For BimaHaq staff & partners

The advocate portal

Empanel, accept assignments, and deliver the legal-notice service with e-sign.

As an empanelled advocate you apply once, then receive matters an admin pushes to you — legal notices, case tasks and mediations. For a legal notice you personally author the text (no AI), send it for your own electronic signature, and the signed copy reaches the customer. This guide walks the whole path, from empanelment to a delivered, signed notice.

Workspace: /advocateSign in: You are invited by a BimaHaq admin — set your password from the link in the invite email, then sign in at /auth/login. You land on your advocate workspace. Advocates do not self-sign-up.

1. The big picture

Here is the whole path, from applying for empanelment to delivering a signed legal notice. Nothing is automatic: an admin empanels you, an admin assigns each matter, and you author and sign every notice yourself.

Compliance: BimaHaq is not a law firm and gives no legal advice; it does not represent policyholders before Consumer Commissions and creates no advocate–client relationship. Legal representation is by independent advocates the customer engages directly, and no outcome is guaranteed.
Watch out: The workspace is guarded: only the roles advocate and admin can open /advocate. A plain customer or wrong-role account is blocked by the guard.

2. Get invited & sign in

Advocates do not create their own accounts. An admin adds you and sends an invite; you set a password from the email link and then sign in.

  1. 1
    Accept your invite

Open the invitation an admin sends and follow the link to set your password.

    Set password the invite email
  2. 2
    Sign in

Use your email and the password you set (plus a 6-digit code if two-factor is on).

    Sign in /auth/login

You land on your advocate workspace

  3. 3
    Open the workspace

Reach it any time from the account/user menu.

    Advocate workspace /advocate
Note: There is no dedicated header button for the advocate area — reach /advocate through the account/user menu, which routes you by your role.

3. Apply for empanelment

Fill the empanelment profile once. You can upload an enrolment, PAN or bank document to auto-fill readable fields, then submit for admin review. A status badge tracks your application.

  1. 1
    Open the empanelment profile

The profile form loads. If you have no profile yet it opens empty.

    Empanelment profile /advocate
  2. 2
Upload a document to auto-fill (optional)

Pick a document type (e.g. Bar Council enrolment certificate), choose the file and upload; readable fields are pre-filled.

    Upload /advocate
  3. 3
    Enter your full name (required)

Type your name into the required Full name field.

    Full name * /advocate
  4. 4
    Tick your forums of practice

Check every forum you practise in — Mediator, DCDRC, SCDRC, NCDRC, High Court, Supreme Court of India.

Forum of practice (tick all that apply) /advocate
  5. 5
Fill practice & Bar Council details

Enter place of practice, enrolment year, Bar Council enrolment number and PAN.

    PAN /advocate
  6. 6
    Add bank & contact details

Enter bank account name, number and IFSC, contact email, WhatsApp and a short bio.

    Bank account number /advocate
  7. 7
    Submit for review

Submit; your profile goes to an admin and the status becomes under review.

    Submit for review /advocate

    Status shows “under review”

    • update & resubmit: Submit for review
Watch out: If Full name is blank when you submit, the form blocks with “Your full name is required.” and sends nothing — fill it first.
Watch out: If an uploaded document has no readable text you’ll see “Uploaded. (No text could be read to pre-fill — fill the form manually.)” — the fields stay empty and you type them in.
Compliance: Submitting only sends your profile for admin review. No advocate self-empanels: an admin must empanel you before you can receive any assignment. After a decision, your status badge reads empanelled, rejected or suspended, with a reviewer note if there is one.
Note: Your bank details are captured only for verification and payouts. There is no percentage-of-claim, success-fee or fee-splitting field anywhere — payout is on fixed bank details.
Note: If your Forums of practice include Mediator, the admin can ALSO place you on the ODR mediator panel — same login, no second account. A “Mediator desk” banner then appears at the top of this workspace; your mediations live there. You must stay neutral as a mediator: never mediate a case where you also act as the advocate.

4. Receive & accept an assignment

Once empanelled, matters an admin pushes to you — legal notices, case tasks and mediations — appear under “Work assigned to you”. Accept or decline each one; case tasks and mediations then progress to completion.

  1. 1
    See your assigned matters

The “Work assigned to you” list loads; each card shows the matter kind and a status badge.

    Work assigned to you /advocate
  2. 2
    Accept the matter

Click Accept on a matter shown as “Assigned to you”.

    Accept /advocate

The matter becomes yours to work

  3. 3
Start & complete a case task or mediation

For case tasks and mediations, click Start work, then Mark complete when done.

    Start work /advocate
  4. 4
Open the Resolution Room (if linked)

When a matter is linked to a case, use the card link to open the case room.

    Open Resolution Room /cases/[caseId]/room

Note: A newly empanelled advocate with no work sees only the empanelment profile — the “Work assigned to you” block is hidden entirely until you have at least one matter. That is expected, not an error.
Watch out: To decline, a reason is required in the pop-up prompt; leaving it empty aborts the decline and sends nothing. An admin can then reassign the matter.

6. How matters reach you (the admin side)

For context: an admin reviews your empanelment and assigns the paid legal notice — the ₹2,999 service — or pushes case tasks and mediations to you. That is what produces the matters in your list. You never set this price; it is shown to admins only.

  1. 1
    Admin reviews your empanelment

The admin filters by status, corrects any extracted details, then empanels, rejects or suspends you.

    Empanel /admin/advocates
  2. 2
Admin assigns the paid legal notice

On a legal notice awaiting assignment, the admin picks an empanelled advocate and assigns it.

    Assign /admin/advocate-assignments
  3. 3
Admin pushes a case task or mediation

The admin opens the new-assignment form, picks the kind, advocate and subject, and pushes it to you.

    New assignment /admin/advocate-assignments
Note: For a mediation, the admin’s advocate list is filtered to mediators only — so you receive mediation matters only if you ticked the Mediator forum on your profile.
Note: An admin can cancel a matter (with a required reason) until it is delivered, completed or already cancelled.

7. Privacy & compliance notes

A few rules that govern everything you do in the portal.

  • No self-empanelment — an admin must empanel you before any matter can reach you.
  • You author, then you sign — legal notices are written by you (never AI) and signed with your own single e-signature.
  • Customer sees only the signed copy — never your working draft.
  • No fee-sharing or success fee — payout is on the fixed bank details in your profile; there is no percentage-of-claim or fee-splitting field.
  • No outcome guarantees — do not promise a claim will be paid or a dispute resolved a particular way.
  • No representation before Consumer Commissions — BimaHaq is not a law firm and creates no advocate–client relationship; the customer engages you as an independent advocate directly.
Compliance: Your bank details are stored securely for verification and payouts only. Keep your contact details current so an admin can reach you about a matter.

Questions people ask

Can I sign up as an advocate myself?
No. An admin invites you and empanels you. You set a password from the invite email, sign in at /auth/login, and land on your workspace.
Why is my workspace empty after I was empanelled?
That’s normal. The “Work assigned to you” block is hidden until an admin assigns you at least one matter — you’ll only see your empanelment profile until then.
Does AI write the legal notice for me?
No. You author the notice text yourself. It is then sent for your own single electronic signature, and the signed copy is delivered to the customer.
Does the customer see my draft?
No. The customer only ever sees the status and the executed, signed copy — never your working draft text.
Can I set my own fee or a percentage of the claim?
No. There is no fee, success-fee or percentage field in the portal. The legal-notice price is fixed and shown to admins; you are paid out on the bank details in your profile.
