Before you consider Sulah, know your free routes. Your insurer's Grievance Redressal Officer, the Bima Bharosa portal, and the Insurance Ombudsman cost you nothing, and an Ombudsman award is binding on the insurer. ₹50 lakhis both the most it may award and the claim value it accepts at filing. Sulah is a voluntary alternative for when both sides want a negotiated settlement — it is not a replacement for those routes, and choosing it is entirely up to you.
One hard limit: Sulah cannot take matters already sub judice or awaiting an Ombudsman award or a consumer court or any other legal forum.
Sulah — Mediation Room
Voluntary online mediation of insurance claim disputes — a neutral, empanelled mediator helps you and your insurer reach a settlement in a secure Resolution Room. Free for policyholders.
Mediation, moved online
Sulah — Mediation Room brings the Mediation Act 2023 into a digital-first process. Instead of drawn-out litigation, a neutral mediator helps both sides reach a settlement — entirely online, on your schedule, with every step recorded in the Resolution Room.
Neutral
Independent, accredited mediators — conflict-checked before appointment, no side of the table.
Secure
Every proposal and message stays inside the Resolution Room.
Faster
Structured mediation that settles in weeks, not years.
Fixed, disclosed fees — never linked to the outcome
Every fee in Sulah is fixed and disclosed before mediation begins. Nobody in the room — not BimaHaq, not the mediator — earns more if you settle, or settle higher.
You — the policyholder
Free
You never pay for Sulah. There is no customer fee to refer, mediate, or settle — and no cut of your settlement.
The insurer
Fixed fee, ₹2,999–4,999
The insurer pays a fixed platform fee in this band, confirmed before mediation begins. It does not change with the outcome.
The mediator
Fixed sitting fee, disclosed upfront
Mediators serve pro bono or on a fixed sitting fee disclosed to both parties before they consent — the same fee regardless of whether or how the dispute settles. Never a percentage of the settlement.
How the empanelled panel works
Our panel is built from accredited mediators who apply, are reviewed, and — once empanelled — are matched to the disputes that fit them best.
Apply
Accredited mediators apply to the panel with their specializations, languages, experience, and accreditation details.
Reviewed
Our team verifies accreditation under the Mediation Act 2023 and reviews each application before empanelment.
Empanelled
Approved mediators join the live panel and set their availability and weekly capacity for new disputes.
Matched to disputes
When a case is referred, we match it to the best-fit mediators, check for conflicts of interest, secure both parties' consent, and open the Resolution Room.
The right mediator for your dispute
When a case manager refers a dispute, BimaHaq scores every empanelled mediator against the case and surfaces the strongest matches for consent — no manual guesswork.
Specialization fit
Mediators whose expertise matches your policy type — health, motor, life, property, or travel — rank higher.
Language overlap
We prioritise mediators who speak your preferred language, so nothing is lost in translation.
Experience & availability
Only mediators currently accepting cases are matched, with more experienced mediators ranked ahead on ties.
Consent-first, conflict-checked. Before appointment, every proposed mediator is checked for prior involvement with the case and must disclose any connection to the parties. A mediator is only assigned once you, the policyholder, have consented and confirmed that no court, consumer forum, or Ombudsman proceeding is already underway — and, where an insurer representative has joined the room, once they have consented too. Only then does the Resolution Room open.
Join the panel, or resolve your dispute
Accredited mediators can apply to be empanelled. Policyholders and insurers can start with a quick eligibility check or talk to our team.
India's Mediation Act 2023 gives institutional and online mediation a clear legal footing. Sulah — Mediation Room operates within that framework to make claim disputes faster to settle and easier to trust.
