This is your notice under Section 5 of the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (the 'DPDP Act'). It is a short summary of what personal data we collect, why, and the rights you have. Our Privacy Policy gives the full detail.
Data Fiduciary
BimaHaq is the Data Fiduciary and decides why and how your personal data is processed. We are not a Significant Data Fiduciary, so we have a designated Grievance Officer rather than a Data Protection Officer — contact privacy@bimahaq.com.
What we collect and why
We collect the details you give us (name, contact, policy and claim details, and any documents you upload — which can include health information), payment metadata for paid services, and basic usage data. We use it to assess your eligibility, deliver the service you asked for, keep you updated, and meet our legal duties. Our lawful basis is your consent or a legitimate use permitted by the Act; health data is processed only where consent or another lawful basis exists.
Your consent
When you create an account you give explicit, opt-in consent to our Privacy Policy (through a tick box that is not pre-ticked). Analytics are optional and controlled separately through our cookie banner.
Your rights
You can access a copy of your data, correct it, erase it, nominate someone to act for you, and withdraw consent — from the privacy dashboard in your account or by writing to privacy@bimahaq.com. If you are not satisfied with how we handle a grievance, you can complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
Withdrawing consent
You can withdraw consent at any time, as easily as you gave it. We stop the affected processing within a reasonable time and erase what we no longer have a basis to keep, except where a law requires longer retention.
Children
Our services are for adults. We do not knowingly process the personal data of anyone under 18 without verifiable parental or guardian consent, and we do not track or serve targeted advertising to children. Parents or guardians can write to privacy@bimahaq.com about a child's data.
